Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC in Redmond, WA is seeking a Senior Thermal Design Engineer to lead thermal design and CFD analysis for consumer electronics and spacecraft components.

You will develop and refine thermal processes, design hardware prototypes, and provide actionable input to architects. Experience with CFD tools and thermal hardware is required; spacecraft exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years leading cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and field execution, or equivalent simulation experience.
• 2+ years in consumer electronics thermal design and cost-aware solutions.
• 2+ years in test planning, setup, results correlation and production verification.
• 2+ years in thermal control hardware development or selection.
• Strong CFD experience with popular tools (ANSYS Fluent, Icepak, FloTHERM, OpenFOAM).
• Experience with Thermal Desktop or SINDA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead thermal design and analysis for consumer electronics products with timely, high-quality deliverables.
• Perform CFD simulations to evaluate and optimize thermal performance across designs.
• Develop and refine thermal design processes and best practices.
• Design, build, and validate thermal hardware prototypes tied to product milestones.
• Provide rapid input, trade-off analyses, and recommendations to hardware architects.
• Document analyses and support design review gates with clear data.
• Apply fundamentals in thermal engineering and materials science to solve challenges.
• Ramp up on spacecraft thermal design with coaching and mentorship.
• Support terrestrial thermal design with CFD analysis as needed.
• Document trades and design evolution for reviews.
