Job summary

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems in Kokomo, IN is seeking a Thermal Analysis Engineer to provide thermal CAE support for new product development and improvements to motor and drive system components. You will perform CFD and heat transfer analyses, develop design tools, and write reports while collaborating with CAE and engineering teams.

Qualifications

BSME degree required; MSME preferred.
Thermal sciences specialization preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience required.
Subject matter expert in thermal analysis preferred.
Experience with CFD to solve thermal design problems required.
Proficiency in CAD using NX/Creo/ProE or Ansys DesignModeler/SpaceClaim/Discovery required.
Proficiency with CFD using ANSYS Fluent or CFX required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
Experience with Ansys MotorCAD preferred.
Experience in multiphysics simulation preferred.
Knowledge of automotive pumps and heat exchangers preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide CFD simulations of electric motors, components & drive systems.
Perform heat transfer and thermal analysis of electric motors using Ansys.
Verify results with hand calculations and experience.
Propose design modifications to meet requirements.
Write test plans and coordinate tests for data collection and model calibration.
Develop design tools to improve predictive engineering capabilities.
Write reports to summarize CAE projects.
Write engineering procedures and standards for thermal analysis.
Present findings to internal and external customers.
Solve complex problems using engineering judgment.
