Job summary

NBCUniversal is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support existing and new theme park attractions. You will investigate downtime, perform redesigns, and ensure daily operational readiness of rides and shows.

Responsibilities include re-engineering mechanical/structural systems, managing capital design projects, and coordinating with vendors and show management. CA PE preferred; strong SolidWorks/AutoCAD skills expected. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
  • 7+ years mechanical/structural detailed design experience.
  • 3+ years project engineering in large machine environments.
  • Strong analytical skills for design, test, and implementation.
  • Experience in welded structures, gearings, steels, composites and fabrication.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic design and components.
  • Knowledge of servo controls in motion systems and related standards.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and technical documents.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays on short notice.
  • Familiarity with AWS, ANSI and ASTM F24 standards.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to day-to-day sustaining engineering calls and troubleshoot issues.
  • Perform re-engineering for attractions including mechanical, structural, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Produce scope of work for capital design projects and manage progress from design to installation.
  • Develop and oversee project schedules and budgetary demands.
  • Monitor vendors/design-builders and resolve problems and design issues.
  • Prepare equipment specifications and perform technical evaluation of vendor products/services.
  • Oversee mock-ups, prototypes, installations, tests and adjustments of show and ride systems.
  • Coordinate engineering activities between vendors, engineers, ride managers, and technicians.
  • Provide project status updates to ride and engineering managers.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation and acceptance test procedures.
