About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Texturing & Shading Artist to join our cinematics team. You will be responsible for crafting photorealistic and stylized textures, materials, and shaders for characters, props, and environments. As a senior member, you will drive the look-development process, ensuring assets hold up under cinematic lighting and close-up, high-resolution rendering. You will collaborate closely with modelling, lighting, and rendering teams while mentoring junior artists and setting studio standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Texturing & Shading
- Create high-quality PBR textures and materials for characters, props, and environments.
- Develop production-ready shaders optimized for cinematic rendering (Arnold, V-Ray, or equivalent).
- Ensure textures and materials read believably at close-up, 4K+ resolutions.
- Balance realism and artistic direction, matching the projects visual style.
- Look Development
- Collaborate with lighting and rendering teams to achieve film-quality look-dev results.
- Perform shader tuning and material refinements to maintain consistency across sequences.
- Troubleshoot texture and shader issues throughout production.
- Pipeline & Standard
- Define and maintain texturing/shading workflows and best practices.
- Work with technical teams to improve material libraries and procedural workflows.
- Ensure assets are optimized for both cinematic and real-time pipelines when required.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience as a Texturing/Shading or Look-Dev Artist in film, AAA game cinematics, or animation.
- Expert knowledge of Substance Painter/Designer, Mari, Photoshop, and Arnold/V-Ray.
- Strong understanding of PBR workflows, UV mapping, baking, and procedural texturing.
- Deep knowledge of surface detail, materials, and photorealistic rendering.
- Experience collaborating with modelling, lighting, and rendering departments.
- Strong artistic eye for realism, scale, and material response under light.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Houdini, Unreal Engine, or Nuke for look-dev and integration.
- Familiarity with grooming workflows (XGen/Ornatrix) and how shaders interact with hair/fur.
- Knowledge of Python/MEL scripting for shading automation.
- Previous work on cinematic cutscenes or film VFX.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to work on game cinematic projects with global reach.
- A creative and collaborative studio environment.
- Competitive compensation and clear growth pathways.
- Chance to shape studio standards for texturing and look-dev.
