Job summary

Element Materials Technology is seeking a Senior Test Technician in Wisconsin to join our operations team. The role involves a range of routine and non-routine testing assignments, ensuring timely and accurate results under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include mechanical testing of metallic materials, operating complex equipment, recording data, and meeting project deadlines while complying with safety and quality systems. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

  • Educated to a good general standard including English and Math.
  • Associates Degree level or equivalent in mechanical or materials science or another relevant materials related discipline.
  • Hands-on job sometimes involving safely lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience of working within a mechanical testing environment is advantageous.
  • Understanding of ISO 17025 or similar QMS is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of ASTM/ISO or equivalent mechanical testing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical testing of metallic materials (tension, compression, bending, shear, impact, hardness).
  • Operate complex mechanical testing equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and systematic records.
  • Report writing, data interpretation and analysis.
  • Communicate with team and clients as required.

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Senior Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Senior Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Salary: $26- $38/hr DOE

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical testing, primarily of metallic materials (Tension, compression, bending, shear, impact, hardness)
  • Interpretation of specifications and client requirements
  • Operating complex mechanical testing equipment
  • Maintaining accurate and systematic records
  • Performing other duties to fulfil the demands of the laboratory
  • Performing general duties in accordance with Element's internal procedures, Quality as well as Health and Safety system
  • Application of instrumentation and the setting up of complex data capture equipment
  • Report writing, data interpretation and analysis

  • Manage flow of work and timelines to meet due dates
Skills / Qualifications
  • Educated to a good general standard including English and Math

  • An understanding of a recognized Quality Management Systems such as ISO 17025 is beneficial
  • Working knowledge of ASTM, ISO, or equivalent mechanical testing standards
  • Self motivated Test Technician with the ability to multi task, organize and work under the pressure of a busy commercial mechanical test laboratory
  • Excellent attention to detail

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Possesses the ability to perform lower to intermediate complex testing.
  • Ability to work alone the majority of the work day; only requiring assistance for clarification or confirmation of test procedures.
  • Effectively manages time and practices accountability for the testing to be performed.
  • Ability to take testing projects from start to finish, completing each step properly.
  • Ability to hold team members accountable for the testing requirements.
  • Advanced ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Ability to construct and maintain test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order based on client needs.
  • Ability to maintain and repair equipment.
  • Ensures timely and accurate results with little supervision and technical input.
