Job summary

Medtronic plc in Lafayette, Colorado, is seeking a Principal Test Engineer to lead system-level verification and validation for interventional medical devices from concept through commercialization.

You will drive robust test methods, verification plans, validation activities, and regulatory-ready documentation while providing technical leadership to cross-functional teams, including systems, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory. Onsite role based in Colorado.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 7+ years of engineering or technical testing experience, or master’s with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years.
• Experience leading system-level verification, validation planning, execution, and documentation for complex medical devices.
• Ability to develop test methods, verification protocols, acceptance criteria, and technical reports.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical fundamentals and associated test equipment.
• Experience collaborating across cross-functional product development teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead system-level verification and validation strategy for interventional medical devices from concept to commercialization.
• Develop verification protocols, acceptance criteria, statistical rationales, and sample size justifications.
• Design and implement test methods to evaluate system performance and tissue interaction.
• Generate regulatory submission-ready documentation and verification/validation evidence.
• Lead user needs validation activities and document design effectiveness.
