Job summary

VIAVI Solutions in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join the Fiber Instruments NPI team, bringing next‑gen fiber test instruments from R&D into volume production.

You will architect automated test racks, write control software in Python/C++ or NI TestStand, and collaborate with R&D in Indianapolis and the France design center to deliver robust, scalable test solutions for OTDR modules and optical power meters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Electrical/Computer Engineering, Physics, Optics).
• 5+ years in automated test engineering for manufacturing environments.
• Expert ability to remotely control optical test instrumentation via code (GPIB, USB, LAN, SCPI).

Responsibilities

• Architect Production Test Systems for OTDR modules and related instruments.
• Write drivers and test sequences in Python, C++, or NI TestStand for instruments.
• Develop algorithms to measure optical parameters (insertion loss, return loss, etc.).
• Implement Gauge R&R and Measurement Uncertainty analyses.
• Collaborate with R&D across sites to ensure test access and DTf.
