Job summary

Parry Labs, LLC in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Software & System Test Engineer to plan, develop, and document verification activities for complex software and integrated systems. You will collaborate across software, systems engineering, and program teams to ensure products meet requirements and provide objective verification evidence.

You will support the full verification lifecycle, develop test strategies, and maintain traceability from requirements through results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 4+ years of experience testing embedded software, integrated hardware/software products, distributed systems, or other complex mission systems.
• Experience interpreting and verifying software and system requirements.
• Strong understanding of requirements-based verification, system integration, defect management, configuration control, and regression testing.
• Experience interpreting system architectures, Interface Control Documents, data flows, logs, and communication protocols.
• Ability to develop test scripts or automation using Python, C/C++, or similar technologies.
• Experience with requirements-management, test-management, version-control, and issue-tracking tools.
• Strong technical writing, analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional communication skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing, reviewing, and maintaining software and system requirements and supporting documentation.
• Review requirements for clarity, completeness, consistency, traceability, and testability.
• Develop software and system verification strategies, test plans, procedures, test cases, and test scripts.
• Maintain traceability among requirements, verification methods, test procedures, results, defects, and objective evidence.
• Perform functional, interface, integration, regression, performance, fault-response, and end-to-end system testing.
• Test software on target hardware and within laboratory, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, and integrated system environments.
• Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, system integrators, customers, and external partners to deliver high-quality products.
• Maintain technical knowledge of subsystem dependencies and interfaces.
• Support the development and maturation of Interface Control Documents.
• Identify and help resolve requirements, interface, integration, and verification gaps throughout the development lifecycle.
• Incorporate cross-IPT feedback into requirements, interface documentation, test products, and approval packages.
• Reproduce, document, prioritize, and track software and system defects through resolution and verification.
• Support root-cause analysis and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Develop and improve automated tests, data collection, log analysis, and results-reporting capabilities.
• Maintain test environments, configurations, baselines, equipment, and representative test data.
• Analyze test results, document anomalies, assess technical risks, and communicate findings to engineering and program leadership.
• Support test-readiness reviews, integration events, formal qualification testing, customer demonstrations, and acceptance activities.
• Prepare test reports, verification artifacts, metrics, and objective evidence required for product approval and delivery.
• Mentor less-experienced engineers and promote consistent test processes and engineering best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About The Job

The Senior Software & System Test Engineer plans, develops, executes, and documents verification activities for complex software and integrated systems. This role collaborates with software developers, systems engineers, system integrators, program teams, customers, and external partners to ensure products satisfy functional, performance, interface, and mission requirements.

The engineer supports the full verification lifecycle, including requirements analysis, interface development, system integration, formal testing, defect resolution, and delivery of objective verification evidence.
