Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN. You will develop, execute, and maintain test solutions for EW receiver systems and RF/microwave components, focusing on test system integration, debugging, and improving test coverage from component to system level.

You will design test methods, troubleshoot test stands, and ensure proper documentation and configuration control while supporting test technicians and advancing test robustness for critical EW programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 9 or more years of experience.
• Experience with LabVIEW, C (LabWindows/CVI) or C#.
• Interim secret clearance required to start; SAIC will sponsor the clearance.
• Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement test methods, sequences, and setups for EA-18G FST and receiver systems.
• Debug existing test hardware and software to resolve test failures and anomalies.
• Perform hands-on troubleshooting of test stands and UUTs using RF test equipment.
• Distinguish between UUT issues, test equipment issues, and software defects, and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and address test gaps and escapes between assembly levels.
• Adjust test limits, add test steps, and refine procedures to improve defect detection.
• Write and update test procedures, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
• Maintain configuration control of test documentation and support engineering change activities.
• Provide guidance and support to test technicians on the proper execution of tests.
• Test RF and microwave components and assemblies, including VSWR/return loss, insertion loss, phase matching, noise figure.

Job Description

The Testing & Troubleshooting Engineer will support the EA-18G Growler program by developing, executing, and maintaining test solutions for electronic warfare (EW) receiver systems and RF/microwave components. This role focuses on test system integration, debugging, root-cause analysis, and improving test coverage from component to system level.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and implement test methods, sequences, and setups for EA-18G FST and receiver systems.
• Debug existing test hardware and software to resolve test failures and anomalies.
• Perform hands-on troubleshooting of test stands and Units Under Test (UUTs) using RF test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, power meter, etc.).
• Distinguish between UUT issues, test equipment issues, and software defects, and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and address test gaps and escapes between assembly levels (component, subassembly, LRU, system).
• Adjust test limits, add test steps, and refine procedures to improve defect detection and test robustness.
• Write and update test procedures, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
• Maintain configuration control of test documentation and support engineering change activities.
• Provide guidance and support to test technicians on the proper execution of tests.
• Test RF and microwave components and assemblies, including:
  • VSWR / return loss
  • Insertion loss and gain
  • Phase matching
  • Noise figure

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
