Job summary

Heitmeyer Consulting is seeking a Lead Automation Engineer in Buffalo, NY to guide the test automation effort and mentor teammates. The role emphasizes hands-on design, development, and execution of automated tests for mainframe applications, with a focus on reliability and quality.

Qualifications

Senior test automation engineer capable of leading and mentoring.
Proficient in Ruby and Cucumber; able to build test scripts from scratch.
Experience with Selenium or Mainframe Emulator plug-ins.
Expertise in back-end, black-box, and white-box testing.
Strong documentation skills; detail-oriented.
Excellent communication and team engagement, especially with remote work.

Responsibilities

Act as go-to person for test automation; mentor and stay hands-on.
Design, develop, and execute test cases for mainframe apps from requirements and user stories.
Build and maintain automated testing scripts and frameworks.
Perform functional, integration, regression, system, UAT, and back-end testing.
Identify, track, and resolve defects.
Manage test environments and collaborate with BSAs on quality practices and regression automation.
