Job summary

Normal Computing is building Normal CLI, a large interactive terminal application used by semiconductor engineers for AI-assisted verification. You will own the interaction model, information design, and how a long agent run is presented, while also owning the local session client and its API.

The role sits at the crossroads of research and product engineering, aligning the terminal with other surfaces of our EDA suite.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with interactive terminal applications or rich local clients.
• Experience taking over an existing codebase and improving it without breaking existing functionality.
• Strong understanding of terminal input, rendering performance, and cross-platform behavior.

Responsibilities

• Own the terminal application design: interaction model, commands, navigation, streaming output, and error handling.
• Define cross-platform behavior across terminals, shells, and remote sessions to ensure consistent UX.
• Shape the local session client and runtime interface to support a coherent product across surfaces.
• Establish standards for command, picker, progress, and review patterns used by engineers and researchers.
