Job summary

Sun Life U.S. is seeking a Senior Operational Engineer to join the CCIO team, driving design, delivery, and operations for enterprise telephony and contact center platforms.

You will modernize Sun Life's communication infrastructure with cloud and AI-enabled technologies, including Microsoft Teams Telephony and Amazon Connect, collaborating with architects, engineers, and operations to deliver scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent.
• 3–5 years designing, delivering, and supporting cloud-based solutions.
• 2+ years hands-on AWS and enterprise telephony experience (Amazon Connect / Teams Telephony).
• Experience developing and supporting AWS Lambda solutions using Python.
• Strong cloud architecture understanding and AWS service knowledge.
• Experience in regulated environments with security, privacy, and risk considerations.
• Familiar with ITIL processes and incident/change management.
• Experience with Agile and distributed teams.
• Experience managing AWS environments and DevOps tools.
• Demonstrated AI mindset and ability to apply automation.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business teams to plan, prioritize, and migrate to Microsoft Teams Telephony.
• Gather requirements with stakeholders and design telephony and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Support scalable, secure cloud-based solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
• Develop high-level and detailed designs for telephony and cloud infrastructure.
• Support Amazon Connect and AWS services to ensure reliability and performance.
• Participate in Agile teams and contribute to CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
