Senior Technology & Data Governance Lead (Information Security)

Contract Duration: March 23, 2026 – March 20, 2027 (strong potential to convert to FTE)

Employment Type: Contract (Not open to third‑party agencies)

Overview

This role leads enterprise technology and data governance within the Information Security organization. You will shape the governance frameworks, policies, and operating models that support security, compliance, technology modernization, and AI‑readiness. The ideal candidate is experienced in both security governance and modern data‑governance practices, comfortable partnering with Executive Leadership, and skilled at driving cross‑functional programs that span security, technology, privacy, legal, and business teams.

Key Responsibilities
Governance & Frameworks
  • Develop and maintain the enterprise technology and data governance framework, charter, and RASCI decision‑rights model.
  • Establish policies, standards, and operating structures that ensure accountability and alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Lead development of technology and data classification, minimization, and retention policies.
  • Guide enterprise cyber risk management aligned to business risk tolerance.
  • Conduct and operationalize Data Risk Assessments (DRA / FinDRA) to inform security and investment priorities.
  • Monitor compliance with regulations (e.g., GDPR) and internal policies; identify and remediate gaps.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for audits, regulatory reviews, and client assessments.
Program Execution
  • Build and maintain prioritized technology and data inventories, including discovery, classification, lineage tracking, and risk scoring.
  • Design and implement stewardship models (centralized, federated, or hybrid) and assign ownership roles.
  • Select and oversee deployment of governance and GRC platforms (e.g., Vanta, MetricStream) and integrate with existing security and data tooling.
Access & Controls Governance
  • Partner with IAM, DSPM/DLP, SIEM/SOC, and architecture teams to ensure cohesive control implementation.
  • Oversee governance tooling for cataloging, lineage, data quality, MDM, DSPM, and observability.
Metrics & Reporting
  • Develop governance, risk, and compliance dashboards for Executive Leadership.
  • Translate governance insights into clear business and financial recommendations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of information security and/or governance experience.
  • Proven ability to define governance policies, decision‑rights models, and stewardship structures.
  • Experience working with Executive Leadership and influencing risk, compliance, and data literacy.
  • Strong background leading technology and/or data governance programs across complex organizations.
  • Experience conducting security and data risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of metadata, data cataloging, lineage, MDM, data quality, DSPM/DLP, DataOps, and observability.
  • One or more preferred certifications: Security+, CISA, CRISC, CISSP.
