Job summary

Edwards Lifesciences is seeking a Senior Technician, R&D/QA to provide technical knowledge supporting THV New Product Development activities. You will assist engineers with testing, fabrication, and assembly, building prototypes and feasibility units, while following established procedures and GDP for documentation.

In this role you’ll operate a broad range of lab equipment, collect data, and participate in process improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent technical degree/certificate with 2 years of R&D lab and/or medical device experience, or 4 years related experience.
• Experience in lab environment and with lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support a wider range of engineering activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly under minimal supervision; build complex prototypes and prepare test units.
• Perform operational tests and identify failure modes on systems and equipment; collect and document test data.
• Order and maintain lab supplies and equipment.
• Other incidental duties as assigned by Management.

The Senior Technician, R&D/QA provides technical and function-specific knowledge to support R&D/QA engineering (THV New Product Development) activities.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Support a wider range of engineering activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly under minimal supervision of Engineers; and may propose technical solutions. Build more complex prototypes, sub-assemblies, and prepare feasibility test units, samples, and/or chemical solutions. Perform more complex work using drawings, diagrams, written and verbal instructions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions.
• Perform operational test and identify failure modes on systems and equipment; may propose technical solutions. Collect and document test data. Operate a wider range of lab equipment including set-up, clean-up, break-down, and re-assembly.
• Order and maintain lab supplies and equipment.
• Other incidental duties as assigned by Management.

What you’ll need:

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent in or technical degree/certificate with 2 years previous experience in R&D Lab and/or medical device experience required or
• 4 years related experience required.

• Problem solving methodology, root cause analysis, and GDP (Good Documentation Practices).
• Good computer skills, including usage of MS Office Suite.
• Substantial understanding of equipment in a lab environment.
• Ability to perform more complex troubleshooting.
• Ability to identify problems and relevant issues in straightforward and more complex situations, assessing using standard procedures.
• Ability to use a wider range of manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment; use tools such measuring equipment.
• Ability to read and understand procedures, drawings, schematics and carry out assembly instructions.
• Ability to provide feedback in a professional, direct, and tactful manner.
• Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control.

For California, the base pay range for this position is $53,000 to $75,000 (highly experienced).
