Job summary

Edwards Lifesciences is seeking a Senior Technician to support R&D/QA activities for THV New Product Development. You will perform testing, measurements and troubleshooting under supervision, building prototypes and preparing test units as needed.

Job description

You’ll partner cross-functionally with manufacturing operations and sales teams, delivering thoughtful solutions to complex challenges all while developing your knowledge of the medical device industry. Whether your work includes strategic inventory planning, labeling, warehouse management, material handling, or any of our other supply chain opportunities, you will be making a meaningful contribution to our team and to patients all over the world. The Senior Technician, R&D/QA provides technical and function-specific knowledge to support R&D/QA engineering (THV New Product Development) activities.

How you'll make an impact:
  • Support a wider range of engineering activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly under minimal supervision of Engineers; and may propose technical solutions. Build more complex prototypes, sub-assemblies, and prepare feasibility test units, samples, and/or chemical solutions. Perform more complex work using drawings, diagrams, written and verbal instructions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions.
  • Perform operational test and identify failure modes on systems and equipment; may propose technical solutions. Collect and document test data. Operate a wider range of lab equipment including set‑up, clean‑up, break‑down, and re‑assembly.
  • Order and maintain lab supplies and equipment.
  • Other incidental duties as assigned by Management.
What you'll need:
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent in or technical degree/certificate with 2 years previous experience in R&D Lab and/or medical device experience required or
  • 4 years related experience required.
What else we look for:
  • Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
  • Problem solving methodology, root cause analysis, and GDP (Good Documentation Practices).
  • Good computer skills, including usage of MS Office Suite.
  • Substantial understanding of equipment in a lab environment.
  • Ability to perform more complex troubleshooting.
  • Ability to identify problems and relevant issues in straightforward and more complex situations, assessing using standard procedures.
  • Ability to use a wider range of manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment; use tools such measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, drawings, schematics and carry out assembly instructions.
  • Ability to provide feedback in a professional, direct, and tactful manner.
  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control.

For California, the base pay range for this position is $53,000 to $75,000 (highly experienced). The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience).
