Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology in Washington, DC is seeking a Technical Writer to advance customer mission through clear documentation and diagrams. You will create and update manuals, POA&Ms, and procedures, collaborating with engineers and project managers to ensure accuracy and compliance.

You will maintain version control and ensure documentation aligns with current systems while supporting enterprise IT initiatives in a fast-paced government environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or education may be substituted with experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer in a technology-driven environment.
• Familiarity with government-specific writing guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, including full diagram schematics, manuals, and procedures.
• Develop and maintain Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) to support project management and compliance.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts to gather and organize technical information.
• Ensure all documentation complies with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Review and edit existing documentation for accuracy and alignment with current systems or requirements.
• Maintain revision histories and documentation repositories for accessibility and traceability.
