About The Role

SearchStax is looking for our next

About The Role

SearchStax is looking for our next Senior Technical Writer, who wlll own the full content lifecycle for Marketing & Digital Experience teams – technically savvy content owners who need to configure, tune, and measure search without writing code to Developers & DevOps engineers – the implementers who integrate APIs, SDKs, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure. From “Getting Started” in the Developer Portal to advanced optimization guides in the Help Center. You will define the documentation vision, build scalable processes, and deliver content that empowers marketers to self-serve while giving developers deep technical confidence.

In this role, you’ll collaborate daily with Product, Engineering, UX, Marketing, and Customer Success.

If this sounds like you, let’s talk!

What You Will Do

  • Content Strategy & Governance: Build an IA that cleanly separates- but cross-links - “No-Code / Low-Code” marketer paths and “Code / API” developer paths. Own style guide, templates, and docs-as-code pipeline (Zendesk, Markdown/AsciiDoc + Git + CI/CD).
  • Content Creation & Maintenance: Author and maintain tutorials, UI walkthroughs, in-app microcopy, release notes, API references, SDK docs, and troubleshooting guides. Audit and prune content regularly to keep marketer and developer journeys current.
  • Portal & Help Center Ownership: Select and run tooling (e.g., Docusaurus, Redocly, Hugo, ReadMe). Implement taxonomy, search, and versioning that let each persona land on the right answer fast.
  • Cross-Functional Enablement: Partner with Product Marketing on launches; ensure docs and “What’s New” posts resonate with both personas. Coach engineers and PMs on authoring best practices; champion content quality in every release.
  • Measurement & Optimization: Instrument analytics to track engagement and case deflection by persona. Use insights to prioritize backlog and advocate UX / product improvements.

What You Must Have

  • 5-8+ years as a technical writer for modern SaaS or developer-focused products, including ownership of documents that serve both business and technical users.
  • Demonstrated success in building persona-based Help Centers and Developer Portals.
  • Expertise with docs-as-code workflows, static-site generators, Git, and automated publishing.
  • Ability to read sample code (REST/JSON, Java, JavaScript, or Python) and translate complex concepts into clear guidance for non-developers.
  • Track record of using analytics to improve documentation discoverability and effectiveness.
  • Meticulous writing, editing, and information-architecture skills; you sweat structure, clarity, and voice.
  • Background in search technology (Solr, Elasticsearch, Lucene) or cloud infrastructure a plus
  • Experience auto-generating API docs from OpenAPI / Swagger and maintaining Postman collections a plus
  • Familiarity with SEO for docs, accessibility (WCAG), and localization at scale a plus
  • Experience or leading other writers a plus
