Job summary

Matrix Design Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Technical, Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Colorado.

The role involves leading projects with civil engineers, planners, and scientists, and coordinating plans, drawings, and submittals for public and private clients. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of civil/environmental engineering experience, strong project management, and licensure in CO (or ability to obtain within 3 months).

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience including stream restoration, floodplain analysis, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, and urban storm water management.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in AZ/CO/TX or the ability to obtain within 3 months.
  • Experience managing and directing the preparation of plans, drawings, submittals, and related documents for public and private projects.
  • Existing relationships in Colorado, Texas, and/or Arizona preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass company MVR.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate conceptual, schematic, and construction documents for water resources projects.
  • Prepare construction details and technical specifications.
  • Prepare project presentations and communications.
  • Lead a diverse team of engineers and scientists in a multi-discipline firm.
  • Lead preparation of submittals, proposals, budget review, and quality control.
  • Develop client business planning strategies and pursuit plans for new water resources projects.
  • Provide project management and conduct complex process engineering for projects and proposals.
  • Attend seminars and engage in professional associations to expand knowledge and network.

$110,000.00 to $125,000.00 annually. Salary will be dependent upon experience.

Job Summary

Working in a collaborative manner with Matrix civil engineers, planners, and technical staff the ideal candidate would have knowledge and a background in project management, leading and coordinating project teams, and creative design. Experience in managing and directing the preparation of plans, drawings, submittals, and related documents for a variety of public and private projects; experience in construction drawings and construction administration is required.

Essential Functions
  • Preparation and coordination of conceptual, schematic, and construction documents for a variety of water resources projects.
  • Preparation of construction details and technical specifications.
  • Preparation of project presentations and supporting communications.
  • Managing and leading a diverse team of engineers and scientists in a multi-discipline firm.
  • Leading in the preparation of project submittals, proposals, budget review, and quality control.
  • Creating client business planning strategies and pursuit plans for new water resources projects
  • Providing project and task management; conducting difficult to complex process engineering for both projects and proposals; collecting, assimilating, and presenting data in reports, memos and public forums; leading production of design calculations and technical reports; and leading preparation of engineering plans and specifications.
  • Expand technical knowledge and professional network by attending seminars, workshops, and conferences, reviewing professional publications, and actively participating in State and/or National professional associations through committee involvement and technical presentations.
Competencies
  • Exceptional engineering planning and design skills.
  • Successful completion of water resource projects from preliminary planning through final design and construction observation for a variety of public and private clients.
  • Capacity to integrate multi-disciplinary project approach with planners, engineers, architects, and environmental scientists.
  • Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Will be responsible for supervising, managing, and directing the technical oversight of tasks and responsibilities for Water Resources staff for a variety of public and private sector projects related to water resources.
  • May supervise 2 to 5 technical staff
Education And Experience
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree from accredited program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Master’s degree in water resources, hydrology, geomorphology, or related field preferred.
  • Constructed and accomplished project related experience.
  • Arizona, Colorado, or Texas Professional Licensure or the ability to acquire within 3 months.
  • A Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive civil engineering experience including stream restoration, floodplain analysis, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, and urban storm water management with public and private clients.
  • Existing relationships in Colorado, Texas, and/or Arizona preferred
  • Valid driver's license, in conjunction with successfully passing the Company’s MVR.
