Job summary

Medtronic OC Campus in Irvine is seeking a Senior Technical Supervisor for the 1st shift to lead manufacturing operations across multiple facilities. You will train and motivate a workforce of technicians and operators, drive continuous improvement, and ensure safety and quality standards are met daily.

You will coordinate with production planning, engineering, and quality teams to optimize schedules, reduce cycle times, and cut costs while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Master's degree with 1+ year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience leading a manufacturing team and driving continuous improvement (Kaizen, DMAIC).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Technicians, Assemblers and Operators on 1st shift.
  • Streamline production cycles and reduce bottlenecks and costs.

Medtronic's OC Campus is looking for a Senior Technical Supervisorfor the Irvine - Toledo facility.As part of Medtronic's Neuroscience Portfolio, Medtronic Neurovascular develops and markets medical technology, services and solutions to treat patients afflicted with Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Stroke worldwide.

To drive the synergies across the 4 sites that exist in Orange County under Vascular Therapies Implants and Drug and Chemistry Technologies, we are introducing the OC Campus Strategy, which will include the harmonization of all Orange County manufacturing campuses including:

  • Santa Ana – Surgical Valve and Transcatheter Valve
  • Anaheim (Vascular Medcure) – Capere Thrombectomy and Embolectomy system
  • Irvine – Stroke/Aneurysm and Embolization
  • San Juan Capistrano (Avenu) – Ellipsis Vascular Access System and Power Controller

The vision of the OC Campus is to accomplish harmonized standards and process amongst the sites.This strategic role is responsible for the management of inventory control processes in distribution and third-party logistic operations. Serves as an expert for supply chain logistics in the areas of inventory accuracy, trends, root-cause analysis and reporting. Manages all regional inventory processes, validations, reconciliations, self-audit schedules and internal training. This position will develop self-audit schedules and train the management staff on timely completion of audits. Maintain effective relationships with Business unit supply chain and Customer service operations to insure effective fulfillment of customer orders. Support management of Medtronic’s relationship with 3PL providers to ensure accurate and on-time shipment of Medtronic products.

As theSenior Technical Supervisor- 1st Shift you will lead, supervise and direct manufacturing efforts. You will train, develop and motivate the workforce toward continuous quality improvement, a positive and safe working environment, and cost-effective operations.

In this People Management Functional Career Stream, You will lead: Technicians, Assemblers and Operators in daily Manufacturing Operations.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible to streamline the production cycle of manufacturing process.

  • Responsible to minimize process waste, remove bottlenecks, and minimize cycle times.

  • Aim to increasing product flow and lowering costs.

  • Plan, propose, and execute value stream mapping and team-based continuous improvement events to execute process improvements.

  • Evaluates continuous improvement activities and implements plans to optimize performance and processes.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.

  • Prioritize production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.

  • Develop schedules and workforce requirements for assigned areas.

  • Plan and administer procedures and budgets.

  • Improve schedule linearity, reduce cycle times and inventory, reduce costs, and improve employee satisfaction.

  • Participate in performing annual performance reviews, pay adjustments and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for all direct report employees.

  • Deliver performance coaching and discipline to direct reports.

  • Monitor product quality, react to quality incidents and coordinate corrective actions, as necessary.

  • Conduct regular and ongoing informational and improvement team meetings.

  • Monitor compliance to safety rules, work expectations and housekeeping standards.

  • Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant Medical Device manufacturing and Supervisory experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant Medical Device manufacturing and Supervisory experience.

  • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

Nice to Have
  • BS degree in Engineering or Technical Sciences.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Medical Device Manufacturing Experience.

  • Excellent Leadership Skills - leading a workforce of ~100 Operators and Technicians on 1st Shift.

  • Understanding and experience with:

  • Neurovascular Technologies

  • Molding and Extrusion

  • Heart Ventricular Assistive Devices (HVAD)

  • CapEx Leadership experience.

  • Extensive experience conducting Kaizen events and Gemba Walks.

  • The incumbent should be technically competent and able to provide clear direction to Operators and Technicians.

  • Previous Medtronic and/or Medical Device experience is helpful.

  • DMAIC Lean / Six Sigma Certification.

  • Experience utilizing the following: SAP, Agile documentation system, and Trackwise – CAPA system

  • Shift scheduling and Kronos experience is helpful.

  • Experience with interviewing, hiring and training Operators and Technicians.

  • Manufacturing Management experience within a controlled and regulated industry.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a wide variety of people.

  • Good writing and documentation skills.

  • Good organizational andverbal communication skills.

  • Personal computer skills in a variety of software programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, inventory management system, and manufacturing execution systems that support the manufacturing environment.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$89,600.00 - $134,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Operations Incentive Plan (OIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
