Job summary

A leading engineering firm is currently seeking a Senior Technical Safety Associate to join their Houston office. This role requires responsibility for the quality of Technical Safety deliverables, participation in audits, and coordination of safety workshops. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a preference for those with 10+ years of relevant experience and professional certification. An ability to lead teams and effective communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of industry experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of codes (API, etc.) and Process Safety Regulations preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing.

Job description

Audubon is currently seeking a Senior Technical Safety Associate to join our team in our Houston, TX Office.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the quality of Technical Safety deliverables
• Support and supervise task delegation to team, as required
• Participate in audits as required
• Ensure that design meets all Technical Safety requirements
• Participate in project HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies, and other safety workshops when required, and experience coordinating HAZOP, HAZID, SIL Classification studies and other workshops
• Manage and review 3rd party studies such as QRA, FERA, EERA, etc., as required
• Fire Protection and Engineering Design experience including preparation of Fire Water PIDs, performing Fire Water demand calculations, and Fire Water hydraulic modelling using PIPENET or similar
• Performance of Passive Fire Protection studies and drawings
• Preparation of Fire and Gas Detection layouts, Safety Equipment layouts, Safety Signage, etc.
• Aid in manhours estimation and scheduling for project proposals

Experience and Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
• Bachelor’s Degree from ABET Accredited Institution preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or Fire Protection & Safety Engineering preferred
• Professional Engineering Certification preferred
• 10+ years industry experience preferred
• Working knowledge of codes (API, etc.) and Process Safety Regulations preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing, including public speaking to groups of up to 30 professionals
• Ability to lead teams to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal
• Ability to lead teams to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work related problems
• Ability to provide instruction and clarification to team members
