GEICO is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager with a passion for working on complex Finance Technology programs across multiple departments and teams. You will be key in driving teams of engineers to deliver enterprise-wide products and help transform our insurance business from a traditional IT model to a Tech organization focused on engineering excellence, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
This Senior Technical Project Manager is a vital member of the Financial Technology team, collaborating across the organization to plan, prioritize, and lead implementations within the Finance Technology domain. You will work with various stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of impactful projects. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in project management, working knowledge of Workday Financials, and a background in Financial Services, Accounting, or Corporate Finance. Experience in Insurance Technology is a plus.
Position Responsibilities
- Partner with project sponsors, delivery teams, and stakeholders to deliver quality solutions on time and within budget.
- Create and manage detailed project schedules, change control processes, and documentation.
- Address project dependencies, negotiate delivery timelines, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule.
- Identify and escalate project risks, providing detailed solutions or alternatives.
- Understand how requirements and design choices impact systems across multiple areas.
- Report on project progress and key metrics, proposing areas for improvement.
- Leverage operational and LEAN principles to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
- Coordinate activities across multiple systems, departments, and teams.
- Utilize your finance systems knowledge to support GEICO’s current and future needs.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
- Leverage experience with ERPs like Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Hyperion, or SAP.
- Apply your understanding of Finance, Accounting, and Management Reporting to meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, team members, and customers to solve complex problems.
- Address project dependencies, negotiate milestones, and report progress to leadership.
- Identify risks and present actionable solutions.
- Perform process engineering to improve existing processes and ensure tactical delivery.
- Share best practices and drive process improvements within and across teams.
- Analyze costs, forecast, and incorporate into business plans.
- Facilitate agreement on technical solutions and track system design issues.
- Conduct research and analysis to meet requirements effectively.
Qualifications
- Proven program and project management skills, with experience managing large-scale projects.
- Deep expertise in Finance domain and ERP solutions.
- Working knowledge of Workday Financials.
- Understanding of accounting processes and management reporting.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience or certification in LEAN principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.
- Ability to work independently and in teams, managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Microsoft ADO and SharePoint is highly recommended.
Experience
- 12+ years managing large-scale Finance Technology programs.
- 10+ years in Product or Project Management.
- 8+ years with leading ERP solutions like Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Hyperion, or SAP.
- Certifications like PMP or Scrum are preferred.
Education
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
Salary Range
$130,000 - $260,000 annually, depending on experience and other factors.
