GEICO is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager with a passion for working on complex Finance Technology programs across multiple departments and teams. You will drive teams of engineers to deliver enterprise-wide products and help transform our insurance business from a traditional IT model to a tech-focused organization emphasizing engineering excellence, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
This Senior Technical Project Manager is a key member of the Financial Technology team, working across the organization to plan, prioritize, and lead implementations within the Finance Technology domain. You will collaborate with stakeholders at various levels to ensure timely delivery of impactful projects. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in project management, working knowledge of Workday Financials, and a background in Financial Services, Accounting, or Corporate Finance. Experience in Insurance Technology is a plus.
Position Responsibilities
- Partner with the project sponsor, delivery team, and stakeholders to deliver quality solutions on time and within budget.
- Create, maintain, and actively manage detailed project schedules, change control processes, and documentation.
- Work with your Sr. Director to address project dependencies, negotiate delivery milestones, and ensure projects are delivered on time.
- Identify and escalate project risks, presenting detailed solutions or alternatives.
- Understand how requirements and design choices impact systems across multiple areas.
- Report on team progress and project metrics, and suggest improvements.
- Leverage operational and LEAN principles to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
- Coordinate project activities across multiple systems, departments, and teams.
- Utilize your finance systems knowledge to support GEICO’s current and future needs.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
- Leverage experience with ERP systems like Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Hyperion, or SAP.
- Apply your understanding of Finance, Accounting, and Management Reporting to meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, customers, and engineering teams to solve complex problems.
- Manage project dependencies, risks, and system design issues.
- Perform process reviews and improvements, sharing best practices across teams.
- Analyze costs, forecast, and incorporate into business plans.
- Facilitate agreement on technical solutions and ensure timely resolution of design issues.
- Conduct research and analysis to meet requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven program and project management skills with experience delivering large-scale projects.
- Deep expertise in Finance domain and experience with Workday Financials.
- Strong understanding of accounting and management reporting practices.
- Detail-oriented with organizational and analytical skills.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience or certification in LEAN principles.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working with business leaders.
- Experience with continuous delivery methodologies.
- Analytical problem-solving skills with quantitative approaches.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Leadership qualities and conflict management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft ADO and SharePoint is highly recommended.
Experience
- 12+ years managing large-scale Finance Technology programs.
- 10+ years in Product or Project Management.
- 8+ years working with ERP solutions like Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, or SAP.
- Knowledge of Agile - Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
- PMP or Scrum certification preferred.
Education
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or Accounting.
Salary
$130,000.00 - $260,000.00 annually, based on factors including experience, education, and market conditions.
