Senior Technical Program Managers (Pittsburgh, PA)

Duolingo, Inc. seeks multiple Senior Technical Program Managers (Pittsburgh, PA) to partner with engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define and execute engineering project release deadlines and plans, ensuring communication and alignment across teams. Architect an environment that fosters collaboration and supports the development lifecycle for engineering projects across Duolingo, driving high-impact cross-functional initiatives from conceptualization to launch. Create and iterate tools for identifying project goals, metrics, and milestones, ensuring all internal and external stakeholders are informed and aligned. Leverage deep technical expertise to develop detailed plans with key milestones and goals, identify and mitigate risks, solve for dependencies, remove impediments, and ensure timely and smooth project launches. Play a pivotal role in forecasting and assessing potential risks and delays for in-process and upcoming engineering projects. Consistently measure all engineering projects before and during development against budget guidelines and deadlines. Drive decisions when difficult tradeoffs must be made, and serve as role model for navigating problems with analytical approach and calming demeanor. Guide and train others on standard processes, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of product and engineering teams even when not involved day-to-day. Telecommuting permitted consistent with company policy.

Job Requirements:

Requires a Master’s degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field and 3 years of experience in a position involving project management. Must have 3 years of experience with: Working on commercial software products and their underlying infrastructure; Building and implementing detailed plans accounting for ambiguity, dependencies, and technical complexity in an agile environment; and Adapting project plans in response to evolving information while maintaining team engagement and productivity. Must have knowledge or coursework in: Software projects; Client-service architecture; Programming languages (Java, Python or C); Front-end or backend engineering; Algorithms; and Data Structures.
