Senior Technical Program Manager - Workday Financial Management (REMOTE)
GEICO is seeking an experienced Sr. Technical Program Manager from the financial services industry to lead complex Finance Technology programs across multiple departments. The role involves driving teams of engineers to deliver enterprise-wide products and supporting our transformation from traditional IT to a Tech organization focused on engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
This position is a key member of the Financial Technology organization, working on planning, prioritizing, and implementing initiatives within the Finance Technology domain. Collaboration with various stakeholders is essential to ensure timely and impactful project delivery. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in project management for implementing Workday Financials and Spend Management, with extensive knowledge of corporate finance in the Financial Services Industry. Experience in the Insurance Industry is a plus.
Position Responsibilities
- Partner with sponsors, delivery teams, and stakeholders to deliver quality solutions on time and within budget.
- Create and manage detailed project schedules, change control processes, and documentation.
- Coordinate with leadership to address dependencies, negotiate delivery milestones, and ensure on-time project completion.
- Identify and mitigate project risks with detailed solutions or alternatives.
- Understand how requirements and design choices impact systems across multiple areas.
- Report on project progress and key metrics, providing ideas for process and delivery improvements.
- Leverage operational and LEAN principles to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
- Require prior experience in the Financial Services Industry, with a solid understanding of ERP applications.
- Coordinate activities across multiple systems, departments, and teams.
- Use your finance systems knowledge to support GEICO’s current and future needs.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
- Utilize experience with ERP systems like Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, or SAP to enhance or build applications.
- Apply understanding of Finance, Accounting, and Management Reporting to meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, teams, and customers to solve complex problems.
- Address project dependencies, negotiate milestones, and manage risks.
- Report on progress and key metrics to leadership.
- Suggest and implement process improvements.
- Perform process engineering and manage improvements to completion.
- Share best practices and improve team processes.
- Analyze costs and forecasts for business planning.
- Ensure system design issues are identified, tracked, and resolved timely.
- Conduct ad hoc research to meet requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong program and project management skills with experience managing large-scale projects.
- Deep expertise in Finance domain and ERP systems, especially Workday Financials.
- Understanding of accounting processes, management reporting, and cross-finance practices.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience or certification in LEAN principles.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working with business leaders.
- Experience with continuous delivery and quantitative problem solving.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work independently.
- Leadership qualities and conflict management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft ADO and SharePoint is highly recommended.
Experience
- 12+ years managing large-scale Finance Technology programs.
- 10+ years in Product or Project Management.
- 8+ years working with ERP solutions like Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, or SAP.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
- PMP or Scrum certification preferred.
Education
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Finance, or Accounting.
Salary Range
$130,000 - $260,000 annually. Final salary depends on experience, education, location, and market factors. GEICO will not sponsor employment authorization for this role at this time.
