Job summary

USP seeks a Senior Technical Manager to lead donor- and program-funded initiatives across supply chain technical assessment and lab-based advanced manufacturing. You will translate complex manufacturing and chemistry questions into practical workplans and deliverables, coordinating cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes independent leadership, experience in API development, and the ability to drive technology transfer and risk-based decisions in a global public-health context.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with 5+ years of industrial API/fine chemical experience.
• Independence and broad workstream ownership with matrix leadership.
• Laboratory-based process development, route assessment, scale-up, troubleshooting.
• Strong foundation in synthetic organic chemistry, analytics, and process optimization.
• Literature reviews, route design, and feasible experimental plans.
• Ability to translate complex technical info into practical recommendations.
• Experience leading matrixed teams and delivering on scope, timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical implementation workstreams for supply chain technical assessment and lab-based manufacturing projects.
• Coordinate lab activities: route assessment, process development, scale-up, troubleshooting, purification, characterization, tech evaluation.
• Develop and review technical plans, protocols, and project documents for high-quality execution.
• Conduct technical reviews of API and KSM routes, suppliers, and cost drivers; support risk-based decisions.
