Job summary

U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) seeks a Senior Technical Manager to lead donor- and program-funded initiatives across supply chain technical assessment and lab-based manufacturing.

You will translate complex chemistry and supply chain questions into practical work plans and deliverables, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality outcomes. Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with minimum 5 years of industrial API experience; or M.Sc. with minimum 10 years of industrial API experience.
• Demonstrated independence and matrix leadership across execution-focused technical programs.
• Hands-on lab-based process development, route assessment, scale-up, characterization, or troubleshooting for APIs/fine chemicals.
• Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry, analytical techniques, and process optimization.
• Experience turning scientific and supply chain information into practical recommendations and implementation plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical implementation workstreams for API and lab-based manufacturing projects.
• Plan and coordinate lab activities: route assessment, process development, scale-up, troubleshooting, purification, and technology evaluation.
• Develop technical plans, protocols, reports, and project documentation for high-quality execution.
• Conduct technical, market, literature, and database reviews to assess manufacturing routes and supply vulnerabilities.
• Translate complex information into clear recommendations and actionable project deliverables.
