Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, through Optum Technology, seeks a Senior Technical Product Manager to lead the strategy, design, and delivery of enterprise software platforms and AI-powered solutions.

You will collaborate with software engineers, data specialists, and business stakeholders to translate objectives into technical specifications, backlogs, and roadmaps while driving KPI-driven improvements.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of technical product management experience.
  • 2+ years of experience authoring technical specs, user stories, and architecture requirements.
  • 2+ years of experience with AI/ML systems, automated workflows, or data-driven software solutions.
  • 2+ years in Agile/Scrum environments with tools like Jira or Azure DevOps.

  • Define and drive the technical product vision, strategy, and roadmap for enterprise systems and intelligent software solutions.
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions addressing complex business challenges with responsible AI.
  • Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows and automate tasks across product development processes.
  • Translate business objectives into actionable technical specs, architecture requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage and prioritize technical product backlogs balancing feature releases, integrations, debt, and reliability.
  • Lead sprint planning, release cycles, and technical execution with engineering teams.
  • Monitor product performance metrics, KPIs, and outcomes to drive improvements.

As a Senior Technical Product Manager in Optum Technology, you will lead the strategy, design, and technical delivery of enterprise software platforms and scalable AI-powered solutions. You will collaborate closely with software engineering teams, system architects, data specialists, and business stakeholders to build, integrate, and deploy intelligent capabilities and automated workflows. Your efforts will address complex business challenges, drive operational continuous improvement, and power innovative healthcare technology solutions on a scale.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Define and drive the technical product vision, strategy, and roadmap for enterprise systems and intelligent software solutions
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on responsible use of AI
  • Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement across product development processes
  • Evaluate emerging trends and technology capabilities to inform solution design, architecture planning, and strategic innovation
  • Translate business objectives into actionable technical specifications, system architecture requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Manage and prioritize technical product backlogs, balancing feature releases, model/platform integrations, technical debt, and system reliability
  • Lead sprint planning, release cycles, and technical execution in partnership with engineering and cross-functional teams
  • Monitor product performance metrics, system key performance indicators (KPIs), and solution outcomes to drive continuous optimizations

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2+ years of experience in technical product management, technical product ownership, or software platform engineering
  • 2+ years of experience authoring technical specifications, user stories, and architecture requirements for enterprise software or automated systems
  • 2+ years of experience working with AI/ML systems, automated workflows, intelligent integrations, or data-driven software solutions
  • 2+ years of experience operating within Agile/Scrum development lifecycles and utilizing project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical technical product management experience)
  • Product Management or Agile Certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Agilist)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platform architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, API integrations, and data pipelines
  • Knowledge of responsible AI governance, ethical AI framework implementation, and model monitoring practices
  • Professional experience within the healthcare, health technology, or pharmacy domain
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with engineering and data teams to build, deploy, and scale enterprise technology solutions

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
