Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Eden Prairie, MN, seeks a Senior Manager of Technical Product Management to lead a team delivering high-impact technology products. Remote option available with Eden Prairie preference.

You will drive portfolio operations, executive reporting, and strategic roadmaps while coaching others to scale Technical Product Management across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of equivalent technology product or project leadership experience
  • 7+ years of technical product management, technical project management, technology solutions delivery, or software development leadership experience
  • 3+ years of direct team leadership, people management, or formal coaching/mentoring experience guiding technical team members
  • 3+ years of experience in technical portfolio operations, including budget management, financial tracking, and staffing planning
  • 3+ years of experience in executive reporting on portfolio health, program risks, strategic initiatives, and accomplishments
  • 3+ years of experience writing technical product/project requirements, architectural specifications, or scope documents
  • 3+ years of experience in Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks within complex technology environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and coach team members as they transition into and master Technical Product and Project Management best practices, build core competencies, and establish execution standards
  • Manage operational performance across the portfolio, including tracking and reporting on key initiatives, risks, progress, milestones, and major accomplishments to executive leadership
  • Oversee portfolio budgeting, resource allocation, and staffing decisions, managing financial implications and maintaining alignment with organizational fiscal goals
  • Define and execute technical product strategy, project delivery plans, and platform roadmaps in alignment with business priorities and enterprise architecture vision
  • Drive capability discovery, architecture alignment, and technical specifications in collaboration with software engineering and enterprise architecture teams
  • Oversee backlog prioritization, release planning, sprint schedules, and deliverable timelines to ensure high-quality execution and scalable design
  • Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous operational improvement
  • Evaluate emerging technology trends to inform technical solution design, continuous process improvement, and strategic innovation
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to evaluate platform reliability, project delivery performance, and user adoption

As a Senior Manager of Technical Product Management within Optum Technology based in Eden Prairie, MN (or Remote, with Eden Prairie preferred), you will lead, coach, and elevate a team of technical product and project management professionals to define, design, and deliver high‑impact technology products and capabilities. In this role, you will be responsible for operational management across the portfolio, including executive status reporting, risk mitigation, staffing decisions, budget oversight, and financial planning. Additionally, you will play a pivotal leadership role—guiding and teaching team members who are transitioning into the Technical Product Management framework to build core product and project management competencies, drive scalable platform roadmaps, and modernize core technology solutions.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master's degree in a related technical or business field
  • Product or Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, Pragmatic Institute, CSPO, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager)
  • Proven track record of upskilling teams, building product or project management capabilities, and driving organizational change management
  • Experience utilizing approved AI tools or digital productivity platforms to streamline team operations and reporting workflows
  • Healthcare technology, digital health, or enterprise SaaS background
  • Solid executive communication, financial acumen, and cross‑functional leadership skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $112,700 - $193,200 annually based on full‑time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
