Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Software Development Lead for the OnVUE team to provide technical leadership for multiple product squads. The role involves driving design, architecture, and secure, scalable software delivery of Pearson VUE’s remote proctoring platform.

You will mentor engineers, enforce engineering standards, and collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps to advance platform modernization and technical excellence across cloud-native environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of technical leadership or lead developer experience.
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems.
• Experience leading Agile engineering teams.
• Experience working within cloud-native environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical leadership for one or more development squads.
• Lead design sessions, code reviews, and establish engineering standards.
• Deliver scalable, secure, and reliable enterprise software on the OnVUE platform.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architect teams to align with platform strategy.
• Support release planning and drive modernization and debt reduction initiatives.
