Leonardo DRS invites applications for a Senior Technical Intern - Mechanical in San Diego, CA. The role offers hands-on prototyping, close collaboration with engineers, and exposure to multiple facets of mechanical and opto-mechanical systems within a defense-focused company.

You will be mentored by experienced engineers, participate in sprint-style work, and contribute to tasks from planning to shipping code-related work and hardware development.

• Gather and assemble data for engineers.
• Assist engineers with design details and testing.
• Possibly help in research in a targeted field.
• Support and document testing activities; help maintain communications.

Job Responsibilities

• Hands on development, prototyping, and testing of mechanical and opto-mechanical systems Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments
• Carry out basic work instructions that will help in understanding the fundamentals of the Company and also learn new things
• Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers Complete assigned tasks on time
• Gather and assemble data for engineers
• May be required to help in research in a particular field
• Design, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of robust, precision opto-mechanical assemblies Assist engineers with appropriate design details
• Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network
• Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
• Other duties as assigned

The salary range for this position is $22.67/hour - $32.42/hour. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
