Job summary

Northern Natural Gas in Omaha, NE is seeking an Accountant/Sr/Technical/Sr Technical Accountant to analyze, reconcile, and record the physical flow of natural gas and related financial transactions for monthly pipeline operations.

The role supports regulatory reporting, transportation revenues, and fuel activity, with opportunities to lead studies and partner with cross-functional teams on policy development and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• CPA and/or MBA preferred.
• Zero to two years of accounting experience.
• Two+ years of related accounting or finance experience.
• Four+ years in accounting with financial analysis.
• Six+ years of accounting experience including reporting or accounting research.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and record the physical flow of gas and related financial transactions.
• Prepare, review, and record transportation revenue and fuel transactions.
• Analyze pipeline operating activities and evaluate related accounts.
• Reconcile Oracle Fusion GL accounts with supporting data.
• Extract and interpret data to support regulatory and financial reporting.
• Support projects, system enhancements, and process improvements.
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide accounting support.
• Focus on outstanding Accounts Receivable balances with weekly and monthly reporting.
• Share knowledge and guide junior staff as a technical resource.
• Provide accounting expertise for projects and process improvements.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
