Job summary

Northrop Grumman, based in San Diego, seeks a Principal Technical Editor/Writer to support a large defense program at Rancho Carmel. The role is fully onsite with no remote option, focusing on drafting and refining technical publications in close collaboration with SMEs and program teams.

The candidate will lead plan and document development, ensure accuracy and formatting consistency, and coordinate with CM and QA for timely delivery while meeting security requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience or a Masters with 3 years or PhD with 1 year.
• Current Government Secret clearance and ability to obtain SAP clearance.
• Experience developing and maintaining program plans and process docs with SMEs.
• Excellent technical writing and editing with accuracy and layout consistency.
• Proficient with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat.
• Well-organized, detail-oriented self-starter who works in teams and independently.
• Strong multitasking and deadline focus.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff and management.

Responsibilities

• Edit plans, technical reports, test procedures, statements of work, user manuals and requirements docs.
• Work with SMEs to ensure clear and accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with Configuration Management and QA for publication and delivery.
• Capture meeting minutes and action items for TEMs and design reviews.
