You will turn incomplete information into decision-useful insights for senior leaders and investment teams, challenging mine plans and testing alternatives that impact value and risk.

You will work at the intersection of technical excellence, commercial decision-making and risk management within Rio Tinto Copper’s Surface Mining

Qualifications

• Senior mining and project development experience across multiple disciplines.
• Experience in technical due diligence and investment assessment.
• Ability to frame and challenge technical assumptions for value impact.

Responsibilities

• Frame technical questions and determine depth of analysis from screening to optimisation.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary reviews and integrate findings into concise advice.
• Challenge vendor, partner, study and internal assumptions with evidence-based conclusions.
• Interrogate mine plans, scale, sequencing, cut-off strategy and capital timing.
• Develop central, downside and upside cases for value and risk testing.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts to reflect assumptions in valuation models.
• Strengthen technical due diligence methods and templates across the organisation.
• Shape digital/AI-assisted workflows to improve speed and traceability while keeping professional judgement.
• Communicate complex technical issues in clear commercial language to senior stakeholders.
