Job summary

Atlanta Ballet, Inc. is seeking a Technical Director to oversee the technical elements of productions and related rehearsal and event support.

This leadership role combines management with hands-on work, requiring strong problem-solving, safety leadership, and collaboration with designers, venue staff, and IATSE crews. The position reports to the Director of Production and demands ability to manage budgets, schedule crews, and maintain high artistic standards while ensuring efficient operations

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in technical direction for dance or large-scale productions.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Proficient in CAD drafting and scenic engineering.
• Experience with stage rigging and automation.
• Familiarity with IATSE agreements preferred.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs and work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Lead staffing with the Director of Production, ensuring staffing aligns with safety and union guidelines.
• Oversee the build, installation, maintenance, and strike of scenic elements.
• Coordinate with designers and production to realize production safety, efficiency, and budget.
• Prepare technical drawings, rigging plans, and schedules in collaboration with management.
• Maintain shop safety procedures and oversee warehouse operations.
