Job summary

White House Black Market is seeking a Senior Technical Designer to ensure brand quality fit, appearance, and construction standards across assigned product lines. You will collaborate with the Technical Design leader to evolve processes and elevate product quality, while supporting departmental goals.

The role requires strong patternmaking, garment construction knowledge, and effective communication across teams, vendors, and stakeholders to maintain fit consistency and timely development

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, preferably in Fashion Design or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in the apparel industry including patternmaking with full knowledge of the total production timeline.
• Detail oriented with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of garment manufacturing process and knowledge of fit, balance, pattern, and garment construction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
• Working knowledge of FLEX PLM or comparable software.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for apparel business; team player.
• Knowledge of pattern software preferred (2D/3D, Optitex, CLO, BroZwear).

Responsibilities

• Leads weekly fit sessions; collaborate with designers and merchants to translate fit and aesthetic details.
• Recommends improvements on specs, pattern, construction methods to enhance fit and quality.
• Maintains fit consistency across product areas and applies standard grade rules.
• Executes tech packs from Development to PP for assigned departments and classifications.
• Ensures Product Lifecycle Calendar dates are met for development and garment fit approvals.
• Attends weekly cross-functional meetings to address vendor, quality, or timeline issues.
• Communicates with vendor partners daily to maintain deadlines and solve fit/quality issues.
• Supports senior staff on department goals and process updates; may train new associates.
