Job summary

Gensler in Charlotte seeks a Senior Technical Designer to collaborate with design teams, shaping concepts from development through construction documentation and administration.

You will deliver world‑class retail environments by integrating design excellence with technical rigor, working with a multidisciplinary team from concept to completion.

Proficiency in Revit and 3D tools, plus a passion for sustainable practices, will drive project success and client satisfaction at Gensler.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited program.
• 10-15+ years of relevant experience within a commercial design firm.
• Knowledge of building codes, zoning, and construction techniques is preferred.
• Experience with all phases of design from schematic design through construction administration, and field observation is preferred.
• Strong proficiency with Revit is required.
• Proficiency with SketchUp, Enscape, or other 3D modeling software, and the Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Passion for design excellence and continuous learning.
• Demonstrated commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of Architects and Interior Designers to translate design concepts into technical documentation.
• Produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members.
• Design and deliver functional and beautiful spaces for clients.
• Develop drawings, details, and diagrams using Revit and other tools.
• Support all phases of the design project from schematic design through construction administration.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, fabricators, and regulatory agencies to meet project objectives.
• Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, and maintain quality control.
• Utilize hand drawings and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts.
