Gensler’s Washington, DC office is expanding its critical facilities practice and seeking a technically proficient Technical Designer to lead in this area. You will produce technical documentation, coordinate across disciplines, and advance projects from concept to construction with a collaborative design team.

The role emphasizes construction documents, coordination with consultants, and site-level quality control for laboratories, data centers, and command centers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is required.
• 15-20 years of professional experience preferred.
• Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, materials, specifications, and construction techniques is preferred.
• Experience in construction document preparation and field observation is preferred.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and other 3D modeling software.
• Experience with laboratories, data centers, command centers, high-tech facilities, and government spaces is valued.
• Licensed Architect (RA) and NCARB are preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide project team coordination for finished plans, specifications, and materials; ensure design intent is in construction documents.
• Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction of project.
• Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction.
• Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet project objectives.
