Job summary

Manière De Voir Ltd in New York City is seeking a Senior Technical Designer with deep expertise in garment production, testing and quality control to lead technical development across multiple product lines.

You will own the fit process, set technical standards, liaise with manufacturers, and guide sampling, grading and tolerance decisions to ensure high-quality, compliant garments from concept to final product.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in a similar role, multi-product experience
• Exceptional understanding of garment construction, quality control and fabric technology/testing
• Experience working directly with manufacturers
• Strong time-management and clear written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Lead, scope, and own the full fit process for designated product areas
• Set standards for technical aspects of garment production for high quality and function
• Ensure KPI targets: reduced defects, higher first-pass rate, efficiency, compliance
• Manage end-to-end QC, including fabric testing, audits and safety standards
• Provide creative solutions to maintain long-term compliance with manufacturers
• Coordinate with manufacturers to ensure cohesive production control
• Conduct in-house fit sessions and proactively prevent technical issues
• Manage sampling processes for accuracy, speed and compliance
• Collaborate with designers, buyers and suppliers for technical guidance on new development
• Oversee grading and tolerance rules
• Implement solutions from returns/fault analysis to reduce issues

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Designer to join our team based in New York City, USA. The ideal candidate will possess a wealth of knowledge in garment production, testing and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for leading, scoping, and owning the full fit process, ensuring accountability and excellence across all designated product areas.
• Setting standards for all technical aspects of garment production to ensure high quality and functional products.
• Responsible for the setting and ensuring KPI's are followed – reduced defect rate, increased first time pass rate, production efficiency, compliance rate and reduced returns rate.
• Management of the end-to-end QC process. Inclusive of fabric testing, audits and the management of safety standards.
• Delivering continuous creative solutions to support long term compliance with manufactures.
• Effectively liaising with manufactures ensuring cohesive process control throughout production.
• Manage and conducting in-house fit sessions whilst taking steps to proactively prevent technical issues
• Management of sampling processes ensuring accuracy, speed and compliance.
• Liaising with the Designers, Buyers and Suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development and garment construction.
• Management of grading and tolerance rules.
• Implement solutions from analysing returns and faults to reduce.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar role (including multi-product experience)
• Exceptional understanding of garment construction, quality control and fabric technology/testing
• Experience of working directly with manufactures
• A positive attitude towards challenges and implement solutions
• Strong time-management skills; able to prioritise tasks & be flexible
• Clear concise communication is a must both written and verbally
