Job summary

AHEAD is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (consultant) to work with project teams on-site and remotely, shaping data platforms for analytics and data science. You will lead design, build, and support of modern data environments in cloud or multi-cloud architectures, providing technical leadership and project delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional technical experience.
• 4+ years in Data Architecture and Data Modelling.

• 2+ years cloud experience (AWS and/or Azure).
• Strong client-facing communication and facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, operationalize, secure, and monitor data processing systems.
• Create robust pipelines to ingest and process data from source systems using batch and streaming, on cloud-native tools.
• Implement apps using Kinesis, Lambda, and other cloud-native tools for streaming use cases.
• Engineer and support data structures including SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Engineer ELT loading into data lake (Snowflake, Cloud Storage, Hadoop).
• Engineer APIs to expose data to Enterprise Applications.
• Choose right tools to deliver testable, maintainable modern data solutions.
• Respond to customer/team inquiries and assist in troubleshooting.

Position

Senior Data Engineer (consultant) – work closely with dynamic project teams both on‑site and remotely. Responsible for strategic planning and hands‑on engineering of Big Data and cloud environments that support clients’ advanced analytics, data science, and other data platform initiatives. Design, build, and support modern data environments that reside in the public cloud or multi‑cloud enterprise architectures. Provide technical leadership, present to leadership, and lead projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, operationalize, secure, and monitor data processing systems.
• Create robust and automated pipelines to ingest and process structured and unstructured data from various source systems into analytical platforms using batch and streaming mechanisms that leverage cloud‑native toolsets.
• Implement custom applications using tools such as Kinesis, Lambda, and other cloud‑native tools to address streaming use cases.
• Engineer and support data structures including SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Engineer ELT processes for loading into data lake (Snowflake, Cloud Storage, Hadoop).
• Engineer APIs to return data from these structures to Enterprise Applications.
• Leverage the right tools for the right job to deliver testable, maintainable, and modern data solutions.
• Respond to customer/team inquiries and assist in troubleshooting and resolving challenges.
• Work with other scrum team members to estimate and deliver work inside a sprint.
• Research data questions, identify root causes, and interact closely with business users and technical resources.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional technical experience.
• 4+ years of hands‑on Data Architecture and Data Modelling.
• 4+ years of experience building highly scalable data solutions using Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, Snowflake.
• 4+ years of programming in Python.
• 2+ years of experience working in cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure).
• Strong client‑facing communication and facilitation skills.

Compensation

The compensation range indicated reflects the On‑Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount. The OTE range may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
