Job summary

Fervo seeks a Senior Accountant, Technical Accounting to join our growing finance team. You will translate complex transactions into clear accounting conclusions, journal entries, controls, and reporting support.

The role requires close collaboration across Accounting, Finance, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Operations, and external advisors, with a focus on building scalable processes and rigorous documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years Big Four or 5+ years public accounting/industry with technical accounting exposure.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ability to research accounting conclusions.
• Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation.
• Advanced Excel skills with complex agreements, models, valuations, and large data sets.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Tax, Treasury, Operations, and auditors.
• High attention to detail with multiple high-priority matters.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Record activity in complex areas: debt, stock compensation, derivatives, leases, intercompany balances.
• Own end-to-end lease accounting process, including LeaseQuery and lease stakeholders.
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances with cross-functional partners.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or standardize close processes.
• Draft technical accounting memos and position papers under supervision.
• Prepare data for external valuation specialists and auditors, including stock-based compensation support.
• Translate technical conclusions into journal entries and disclosures.
