You will lead GAAP research, develop technical accounting positions, and ensure consistent application of GAAP across the organization, while partnering with FP&A, Legal, Tax, and auditors. Responsibilities include close support, policy development, internal controls (SOX), and cross-functional collaboration to address accounting implications of business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • CPA certification required.
  • 8+ years of related experience in public accounting or technical accounting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with SEC reporting and SOX compliance.
  • Experience with complex transactions (e.g., M&A, revenue recognition, derivatives).

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical accounting research and develop positions with strong documentation.
  • Account for complex transactions (purchase accounting, intangibles, investments, hedging, goodwill).
  • Draft technical accounting memoranda and maintain supporting documentation.

This role leads technical accounting research, develops well-supported accounting positions, and ensures consistent application of U.S. GAAP across the organization.This position partners cross-functionally to assess accounting implications, influence business decisions, and maintain robust accounting policies and internal controls in a fast-paced public company environment.Key Responsibilities:Technical Accounting & ResearchResearch, interpret, and apply U.S. GAAP to complex and non-routine transactions.Develop, document, and defend accounting conclusions with clear technical support.Accounting for Complex TransactionsExecute and support accounting for areas such as:Purchase accountingIntangible assets and amortizationInvestmentsHedging activitiesGoodwill and other technical accounting mattersPrepare analyses, documentation, and journal entries, as applicable.Policy Development & StandardizationDevelop, update, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistent application of GAAP.Promote standardization and scalability across accounting processes.New Standards & ComplianceMonitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory developments.Lead impact assessments and coordinate implementation efforts with stakeholders.Technical DocumentationDraft clear, comprehensive technical accounting memoranda and supporting documentation for audit and internal purposes.Ensure documentation meets internal and external audit requirements.Cross-Functional PartnershipCollaborate with FP&A, Legal, Tax, Manufacturing Operations, and auditors to proactively identify and resolve accounting issues.Provide guidance on accounting implications of business initiatives and transactions.Close & Reporting SupportSupport the monthly close process through preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses.Ensure accuracy and completeness within the ERP system.Internal Controls & Process ImprovementSupport compliance with internal controls and accounting policies (SOX environment).Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and process improvement.Stakeholder CommunicationCommunicate complex accounting matters clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders, including senior leadership.Maintain strong working relationships with auditors and business partners.Additional SupportProvide cross-functional and team support as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.Active CPA certification.5–7 years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or technical accounting.Big 4 public accounting experience.Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.Demonstrated ability to research, interpret, and document complex accounting issues.Experience working in a public company environment or supporting SEC reporting.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Experience with complex transactions (e.g., M&A, revenue recognition, derivatives).Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.Experience in a SOX-compliant environment.Exposure to manufacturing or multi-entity organizations.Skills:Financial Statements Preparation, GAAP Research, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Internal Controls, Memo Writing, Policy Making, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Technical Accounting ResearchEducation & Experience:Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience | RequiredPay Range:$88,900.00 - $116,655.00Pay Range Explained:This role in Portland, Oregon pays between $88,900.00 and $116,655.00 per year, depending on your experience, skills, and background. Pay may vary in other locations. We offer a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), and paid time off.
