Job summary

U.S. Bank seeks an Institutional Client Group Senior Portfolio Manager - SPM Technology to oversee underwriting and credit risk assessment of commercial loans in the Technology sector.

You will lead a team of underwriters, collaborate with relationship managers and risk teams to drive high-quality credit decisions. The role requires strong leadership, industry knowledge, and ability to align with bank policies and risk appetite.

Qualifications

• Degree in finance, accounting or other related field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of corporate/commercial lending experience.
• Three or more years of management experience.
• MBA or CFA preferred in finance/industry.
• Knowledge of the technology industry.
• Strong credit analysis including financial statement analysis, risk assessment, and structuring complex deals.
• Experience managing multi-million-dollar loan portfolios.
• Deep understanding of banking regulations (OCC, FDIC, Basel III) and loan underwriting best practices.
• Proven leadership skills to mentor underwriting teams.
• Excellent communication skills to present credit decisions to executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of underwriters for tech commercial loans.
• Assess and approve complex commercial loan applications.
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis including cash flow, debt service coverage, and collateral valuation.
• Develop and refine underwriting standards specific to the technology industry.
• Collaborate with relationship managers and credit approval officers to structure loans that meet client needs while protecting the bank’s interests.
• Monitor portfolio performance, identifying trends, early warning signs, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, internal policies, and industry best practices.
• Present credit decisions to senior management and CRM.
• Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, regulatory changes, and economic factors affecting technology.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
