THE ROLE

Matific is seeking a talented Senior Tech Lead experienced in server-side development to join our web team in Colombo, as part of our global web group. This role involves collaborating with product and development teams to create an intuitive teacher interface, enhance student engagement worldwide, and develop our public websites.

Given the company's scale-up phase, flexibility and innovation in delivering outcomes are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Building web-based educational software for teachers and students using Python and Django
• Developing APIs and web components in collaboration with other teams
• Leading feature development
• Conducting architectural reviews and supporting technical decision-making
• Performing code reviews, evaluating implementations, and providing feedback
• Improving development processes and best practices

REQUIREMENTS

• 8+ years of experience as a server-side/backend developer
• Proficiency in at least one server-side/backend language such as Java, Python, or Golang
• Experience in scalable web application and API development
• Knowledge of design and architectural patterns
• Experience leading initiatives internally and externally
• CS degree with top grades or demonstrated top abilities
• Experience managing a team
• Strong team player with a 'can-do' attitude
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Ability to own tasks and elevate team standards
• Self-motivated learner with a passion for quality
• Experience as a technical lead is advantageous
• Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS preferred) is advantageous
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins preferred) is advantageous
• Experience with containerization (Kubernetes, Docker) is advantageous
• Client-side experience with Angular or React, HTML, CSS, JS is advantageous
