Job summary

Capital Group is seeking a Senior Taxonomy & Metadata Specialist in Southern California to lead enterprise taxonomy and metadata governance across marketing and digital ecosystems. You will drive tagging standards, collaborate with Compliance and IT, and enhance content discoverability and regulatory alignment.

You will oversee implementations in Adobe Workfront, Adobe DAM, and AI tools, while developing training and documentation to scale metadata literacy across teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of taxonomy and metadata management experience, including 2+ years in leadership.
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
• Expertise with Adobe Workfront and Adobe DAM.
• Strong knowledge of content lifecycle management, metadata governance, and compliance requirements (FINRA & SEC).
• Ability to design enterprise taxonomies and metadata schemas translating business needs into scalable standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management; ability to influence without authority.
• Ability to explain taxonomy concepts to non-technical audiences and drive adoption via training and documentation.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Information Science, Library Science or Digital Asset Management strongly preferred; comparable experience considered.
• Familiarity with semantic technologies, knowledge graphs, ontology development preferred.
• Experience with taxonomy management tools preferred.
• Knowledge of SEO, content strategy, and customer journey mapping preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise taxonomies and metadata schemas across marketing and digital platforms.
• Develop and enforce policies and standards for metadata consistency, content tagging, and taxonomy use across teams and systems.
• Serve as the domain expert, advising stakeholders on best practices and emerging trends.
• Oversee and optimize taxonomy implementations in Adobe Workfront, Adobe DAM, AI applications, and other tagging systems (Claravine, Seismic, Toppan Merrill).
• Develop operational reporting, QA processes, and workflow automation to keep content governed and accessible.
• Partner with Marketing, Digital, Compliance, Data, and IT to align taxonomy and metadata strategies with business goals and regulatory requirements.
• Create training and documentation to support taxonomy adoption and build metadata literacy across the organization.
• Maintain continuous stakeholder communication to support content production, governance, and optimization.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
