Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a senior tax professional to lead the tax compliance and accounting functions for the company and subsidiaries, staying current with tax law changes and identifying issues and opportunities.

You will oversee tax filings, tax provisions (GAAP and SAP), forecasts, and examinations, perform tax research, coordinate with Tax Management and external auditors, and advise on tax planning with strong communication and business acumen.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 6 years of related and progressive experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
• Master's Degree in Business Administration or Taxation preferred.
• 5-10 years of relevant, progressive experience in tax accounting, compliance and planning.
• Knowledge of GAAP and SAP.
• CPA or licensed attorney preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage government mandated tax filings for Highmark Health and subsidiaries.
• Ensure timely completion and remittance of tax filings.
• Prepare calculations and work papers supporting tax filings and related elections.
• Identify issues and opportunities, providing resolutions to Tax Management.
• Oversee tax provisions (GAAP & SAP) for Highmark Health and subsidiaries.
• Conduct tax research/planning and communicate implications to stakeholders.
• Forecast tax positions and manage examinations with federal and state authorities.
• Collaborate with Tax Management and external auditors; mentor staff.
