Job summary

Felson Recruiting Group client, a well-established small CPA firm in the Charleston, SC area, seeks an experienced Tax professional to join their growing team. This is a hands-on leadership role for a tax pro who enjoys close client relationships, varied engagements, and the autonomy that comes with a smaller firm.

You’ll manage a portfolio of individual and business clients, review and prepare returns, mentor junior staff, and support year-end and quarterly planning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting.
• Hands-on experience preparing Form 1040 and Form 1120-S returns.
• Active CPA or EA credential (required).
• Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state tax compliance.
• Must live within commuting distance of Mount Pleasant, SC (in-office presence with hybrid flexibility).
• Excellent communication and a client-service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns, focusing on Form 1040 and Form 1120-S.
• Manage client relationships as a trusted advisor on planning and compliance.
• Research and resolve complex tax issues across individuals and pass-throughs.
• Review work prepared by staff and provide coaching.
• Support year-end and quarterly tax planning to minimize liabilities.
• Stay current on evolving federal and state tax law.
