Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services seeks a Tax Manager for our client, a professional services firm in Oakland, CA. This hybrid role requires 3 days in the office weekly and offers leadership over complex client engagements.

You will mentor staff, review filings, perform tax planning and advisory work, and serve as a trusted advisor to a diverse client portfolio.

Qualifications include 7+ years in tax, CPA/EA preferred; compensation will reflect experience, with discretionary bonuses and benefits.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of tax experience in public accounting or professional services.
• Strong background in tax compliance, research, planning, and advisory services.
• Proven ability to manage client engagements and multiple priorities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
• CPA, EA, or comparable credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee tax engagements for business and individual clients.
• Review tax filings, research technical matters, and provide planning and advisory support.
• Develop practical solutions and communicate recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Manage client relationships, engagement timelines, and service delivery.
• Mentor team members while reviewing work for quality and accuracy.
