Faycroft Search in Petaluma area seeks a Senior Tax Manager/Director to lead tax engagements end to end, owning client relationships and guiding a team. Offshore teams handle prep, freeing you for high-level review and business development.
The role supports a fast track to partner, with a structured leadership program and AI-driven efficiency initiatives. Hybrid work combines in-office collaboration with remote work.
You’ve spent years as the person who holds tax engagements together. You review the work, keep clients happy and get the team through deadline after deadline. You know you’re operating at the next level. But at your firm, the partner seats are full, the people sitting in them aren’t moving, and “partner track” has become something people say at reviews rather than something that actually happens.
This role exists because the opposite is happening here.
A multi-state CPA platform with a growing Northern California presence is opening up local leadership quickly. Several current leaders are moving into firmwide roles. Partners are retiring, and two of their books are in transition right now. Those client relationships need a successor, and the firm would rather it be someone it hires now and develops than someone it scrambles to find later.
You’d run tax engagements end to end, own the client relationships directly and lead the team doing the work. Offshore teams handle prep and first-level review. That means your time goes on what actually builds a career: higher-level review, client contact and winning new work. You won’t be stuck grinding through production.
The firm is a generalist tax practice today and is building out specialist niches. If there’s a sector you know well, there’s room to make it yours as it grows. The right person could also inherit client relationships from one of the partner books in transition.
The firm is also investing properly in AI and automation, not resisting it. For anyone tired of firms that see technology as a threat, that makes this a very different conversation.
Not everyone wants partner, and this firm doesn’t pretend they should. Some people want the partner track, and there’s a structured leadership development program and a fast route to signing authority for those with the technical ability. Others are better suited as a long-term director with real autonomy over clients and niches. The firm will work with either.
If you’ve been waiting for a partner seat that keeps not opening up, this is one that is.
