Wallace Plese + Dreher (WP+D) is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our growing team in either our Chandler or Scottsdale, Arizona office.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical tax expertise with experience reviewing complex tax returns and managing engagements for partnerships, S corporations, and high‑net‑worth individuals.

This role requires a proactive leader who can mentor team members, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tax planning and consulting services to individuals and businesses
• Research and resolve complex tax matters
• Review and manage tax engagements for partnerships, S corporations, and individuals
• Supervise, train, and mentor staff, senior associates, and supervisors
• Serve as a technical resource for the tax team
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Identify opportunities for new business development
• Develop and cultivate referral sources and professional networks
• Communicate directly with clients to gather information, resolve issues, and recommend solutions

Preferred Areas of Expertise

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred, but not required:

• Entity formation and liquidation
• Mergers and acquisitions
• State and local tax (SALT)
• Nonprofit organizations
• Trusts and estates
• Tax authority audits
• IRC Sections 704(b) and 704(c) partnership allocations

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of tax experience in public accounting
• Active CPA license required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Prior management experience within a public accounting firm
• Strong leadership and team development skills
• Excellent project management and organizational abilities
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and dependability
• Detail-oriented with a strong client service mindset
