Job summary

Aardvark Tax Advisors, the Cynch AI accounting and advisory practice, seeks an Associate Director, Tax to own our largest, most complex client relationships. You’ll lead high-fee engagements, mentor managers, and drive multi-year planning across entities and jurisdictions.

Hybrid work is available from Pleasanton, Cupertino, or Santa Cruz offices, with occasional travel. An active CPA or EA and 15+ years in tax are required.

Qualifications

• Active CPA or EA is required.
• 15+ years in public accounting or tax with compliance, planning, and advisory experience.
• Experience managing high-fee, complex client engagements.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities for managers and staff.
• Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations across multiple entities.
• Proficiency with professional tax software such as UltraTax, CCH Axcess, or Lacerte.

Responsibilities

• Own higher-fee, complex client relationships across planning, compliance, and consulting.
• Lead preparation and review of complex returns for various entities and individuals.
• Deliver multi-year tax planning and advise on entity structure and compensation.
• Mentor managers and senior staff and serve as escalation point for issues.
• Grow client relationships and plan engagements, including timing and fees.
